UG denies claims of compulsory Apple devices requirements for Computer science students

The management of the University of Ghana, Legon (UG) has described a message being circulated regarding the compulsory use of Apple devices by students in the Department of Computer Science as false and misleading.

“We categorically state that there is no requirement for students in the Department of Computer Science to purchase specific Apple devices for their programmes of study,” the Legon-based University said in a statement.

The management of the University, therefore, has urged prospective students, parents and guardians to disregard the false information regarding the strict use of specific Apple devices for its Computer Science program.

We assure all stakeholders that the University’s academic processes are transparent, inclusive and founded on our core values.

We encourage all to verify any information about the University through official channels to avoid falling victim to fabricated claims,” the University of Ghana noted in the statement signed by its Director of Public Affairs.

Relatedly, the University of Ghana has introduced a One Student One Laptop Policy intended to encourage, guide,
and improve the learning experience of students through increasing access to affordable laptops for students.
