UPDATE: Parliament Summons Education Minister Over CSSPS
The Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has been called to testify before the legislative body regarding fraud discovered in the computer placement system, according to the Ranking Member of the Parliamentary Education Select Committee.
On February 2, 2023, the sector minister is scheduled to appear before the committee, according to Mr. Peter Nortsu Kotoe, to respond to the hot topic of Senior High School (SHS) placement for sale.
This hint was provided in an Accra interview by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) representative for the Volta Region’s Akatsi North Constituency.
The committee, according to him, has written to the Clerk of Parliament asking him to contact the sector minister and arrange for him to appear before the committee so he can provide some explanations for the fraud that has been a hallmark of the placement of students into SHS.
In light of the corruption that has plagued the Computerized School Selection and Placement System’s operations, he claimed that the committee needs some answers from the sector minister (CSSPS).
However, The Fourth Estate (Media) investigations showed that the GNAT Hall had been transformed into a market where top senior high school placements could be purchased like commodities.
Top placement-related officials carried out their business through a network of middlemen, mostly GNAT Hall security officers, and cleaners.
