All Public Basic schools in Ghana will officially bring an end to the 2022/2023 academic year next week, Thursday, 14th September, 2023.
Basic schools in Ghana officially resumed the third term of the 2022/2023 academic year on Tuesday, 27th June, 2023. A total of 11 weeks and 2 days are expected to be spent in the third term.
BASIC SCHOOLS 2023/2024 ACADEMIC CALENDAR
The Ghana Education Service is yet to release the academic calendar for the 2023/2024 academic year. The current academic year started in January, 2023. It is also expected that the 2023/2024 academic year will start in January, 2024.
However, there may be some changes in the date. This is because, the BECE and other academic activities were successfully done early in the academic year.
The Ghana Education Service is doing everything possible to restore the old academic calendar. Due to this, the academic calendar for both basic schools and senior high schools will end in September this year. This will help the Ghana Education Service restore the old academic year whereby the academic starts in September or October each year
VACATION DATES IN SEPTEMBER, 2023
Basic Schools
Basic Schools(KG To JHS) will be going on vacation on 14th September, 2023. This will be the end of the 2023/2024 academic year. The academic year began on 10th January, 2023 and expected to end on 14th September, 2023.
SHS(Single Track)
Senior High Schools that run in single track will be going on vacation on 15th September, 2023. SHS 2 students in this category have already ended their academic year.
SHS(Double Track Schools)
Double Track Schools will also have some vacation in the month of September. SHS 3 Students, who are currently writing their exams will bring an end of their WASSCE this month. Aside from this, there will be no vacation for students double track schools. SHS 1 students, who are currently on break will be reopening on 25th September, 2023.
WHAT ABOUT TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS
Most tertiary institutions are currently on vacation. They have ended the 2022/2023 academic year. Reopening dates for most institutions is in January, 2024
