HISTORY
Before 2007, KNUST Senior High School was called the Technology Secondary School. It is part of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana.
It gives high school education. It was started by Dr. R.P. Baffour, who was the vice-chancellor of the University of Science and Technology at the time. This was in February 1961.
The school started out as the “Baby” of the university because it was housed in pre-made asbestos buildings. It was called Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
It was paid for and staffed by the University from the start. But it was hoped that eventually the School would move into permanent buildings on the University campus and turn into a boarding school.
The School was called the University Secondary Technical School from the time it opened until June 1967. Because there wasn’t enough staff and space, the Technical course had to be scrapped. It has been called Technology Secondary School since then.
The school was first made so that the children of people who worked at the university could go to high school there. The school later let people from outside the school in. According to the West African Examination Council and the Ghana Education Service, KNUST Senior High School is a Class A Institution.
