The letter to all regional directors reads as follows
I write to respectfully inform you that the National Teaching Council is, from this year 2023, implementing fully the fees and charges as approved by the Parliament of the Republic of Ghana.
The National Teaching Council is authorized by the fee and Charges (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2022 to levy its clientele to support its regulatory functions.
Per the Act, the following fees and charges are incumbent upon all teachers:
1. Licence card – GH¢ 200.00
2. Renewal of licence – GH¢100.00
3. Registration of teachers – GH¢ 50.00
You are therefore requested to bring this to the attention of your employees.
In a related development, teacher unions are mounting pressure on the Ghana Education Service and the Ministry of Education to ensure that the new academic calendar to be released aligns the SHSs calendar with the basic schools.
The call among other things is to ensure both teachers and learners in the second cycle schools have adequate rest periods during vacations.
Effective, 3rd October, the new academic calendar will begin and will be in line with the pre-COVID-19 calendar of the school which ends in July/August each year.
