The Cry for Help from Newly Posted Teachers in Bono East Who Have Not Been Paid For 10 Months Is Deafining Yet, There Is No Solution In Sight.
The absence of a responsive Ghana Education Service (GES) in addressing the plight of newly posted teachers in the Bono East Region is having devastating effects on the affected educators. These teachers have gone without salaries for the past 10 months, and the consequences are taking a daily toll on their wellbeing.

The teachers, numbering about 200, revealed that they have not received any salary since being posted in July 2024. The letter stated:
“Over 200 newly posted teachers in the Bono East Region have not been paid a single salary since reporting to our stations in July 2024.”

According to the teachers, the affected members are yet to receive their Staff IDs, which are the first basic requirement for processing salaries under the Ghana Education Service. Since reporting to their respective schools, they have continued to render their services to the nation without receiving any compensation.
“Not even one month’s salary has been paid to us, despite teaching tirelessly, showing up every day, and carrying out all duties as expected,” the teachers lamented.
In their letter to the GES, the teachers further alleged:
“…some GES and IPPD officials claim our financial clearance has ‘expired’ — a claim that is false and unfair.”
They challenged the validity of this claim and argued that if other newly posted teachers are being paid, they should not be the exception.

To get their grievances heard by the appropriate authorities in Accra, the affected teachers plan to embark on a peaceful picketing exercise at the GES Headquarters, Ministry of Education, and Ministry of Finance on Monday, 23rd June 2024.
“This is not out of disrespect but a last resort to make our voices heard by the decision-makers at GES,” they emphasized.
The teachers have outlined three key demands, which they believe will resolve the situation and bring an end to their 10-month salary delay:
Immediate release of Staff ID numbers.
Full payment of the 10 months’ salary arrears.
Cessation of the spread of the false claim that their financial clearance has expired.
