2023 school placement out next week (Date, Time and Checker Details)

The Ghana Education Service (GES) is expected to release the school placements of the over 500,000 candidates who wrote the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) this year. When the 2023 school placement is out, some candidates will jubilate, but close to 200,000 will have to do self-placement, while others will not be placed and will not have the opportunity to do self-placement.

When will 2023 school placements be released? Date and time

Per the release of the GES, the 2023 school placement will be out next week. Candidates should expect the release between Monday, November 20th, and Friday, November 24th, 2023.

The GES often releases the school placement in the evenings or at midnight, depending on what time it deems appropriate.

What is the difference between automatic school placement, self-placement, and protocol placement?

Automatic school placement simply means a student has been placed in one of the schools he or she chose and submitted to his or her basic school, which was further submitted to GES. You often cannot change this, and you cannot use the self-planning module to alter it either.

Self-placement is a second window of opportunity given to all candidates who, although they passed the BECE, were not placed in any of the schools they chose. Such students will have to choose one of the available schools in the self-placement database of the GES.

Protocol placement is a privilege option where persons in authority in public institutions are given a special chance of getting their wards placed in schools they want such students to attend, even if the candidate did not make the pass mark for such schools.

The release of the BECE school placement for candidates will help both students and their parents to know the following:

Whether the candidate or student has been placed in a school or not
The accommodation type offered to the candidate
The programme he or she will be studying
The reporting date, among others

Students will often have to print two important documents. One is the enrolment form, and the other is a summary of the candidates, such as the raw score, schools selected, schools attended, and other personal and academic details about the candidate.

The New School Placement Checker for 2023 BECE candidates

When the 2023 school placement is out, candidates can only check with a valid placement checker.

Candidates should note that they will only be able to use the newly released school placement checker by GES. The checkers are expected to be made available for sale to the public on Monday, November 20, 2023.

While both parents and 2023 BECE graduates are anticipating the release of the school placement, there is every indication that the GES will not release the 2023 school placement this week. We provide you with all the valid reasons and the projected date for the release of the school placements online.

Reasons why GES will not release the 2023 school placement this week

The GES and WAEC have yet to release the school placement voucher into the market. Ahead of the release of the school placement, the placement checkers should be on the market for not less than three days. Its availability means the placement is ready and will be released soon. The release of the placement checkers early helps all those who need them to acquire them prior to the release. At the time of this publication, a deep-throat source revealed to the Ghanaeducation.org portal that the checkers are not out yet.
The 2023 school placements will be uploaded to the site for checking. There are two sites in all, and one of them is https://www.cssps.org/. At the time of this publication, the sites are offline. Once these sites become live and accessible globally, it means the GES is ready to carry out the anticipated release of the 2023 school placement for BECE graduates.
Prior to the release of the school placement, the GES, through its official communication channels on social media, such as Facebook and Twitter, updates the general public about its readiness. At the time of this publication, the GES has not made any of such posts public.
Finally, the GES always indicates the exact date on which it will release the school placements. Often, the placements are released at dawn or late in the evening. No such statements have been made by the GES yet.

Based on the above, there is a low probability that the GES will release the school placements this week.

All 2023 BECE candidates are currently awaiting the release of the 2023 school placement results. Some say the placement results have delayed. Others wish to know the date the placement results will be out. We’ve got you covered.

Here are some emerging reasons why the 2023 SHS placement is delaying.

1. Date in which BECE results were released.

The 2023 BECE results were released on 9th November, 2023. The Ghana Education Service use the aggregates of the candidates to place them. Since the results came few days ago, Ghana Education Service will need ample time for the placement to be released.

2. A lot more students are going to SHS this year

This is good news as more and more students are benefiting from the free senior high school policy. This year, a significant more people who completed JHS will be going to SHS, especially because it is free. For this reason, school placement will eventually take more time to make sure that each student is properly placed in senior high school.
GES will have to consider schools’ infrastructures before the placement is done, and this takes time.

WHEN WILL THE SCHOOL PLACEMENT BE RELEASED?

The 2023 BECE or school placement is expected to be released before 25th November, 2023. Candidates are advised to prepare for the release.

ABOUT CSSPS

The Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) is an online portal designed for BECE graduates to access Senior High School (SHS) placement after their BECE results have been released by WAEC.

The CSSPS is done based on six subjects namely; English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science, Social Studies, and two additional best-performed subjects of a candidate.

Although there is no specific aggregate for school placement, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has over the year stated that candidates who had aggregate 9 in the English Language, or Mathematics will not qualify for placement.

The CSSPS policy guideline stated, candidates who obtained aggregate 9 in English Language or Mathematics which are the basic required subjects to qualify for placement, such candidate may not be placed by CSSPS.

2023 School Placement: Why Day Students Stand The Chance Of Getting Their First Choice

Prospective SHS 1 students, who chose to be day students at the secondary school level stand the chance of getting their first choice during the school placement.

This is largely due to the inadequate accommodation facilities in some of the second-cycle schools students select. Several candidates wish to get their first choice. However, if the accomodation in a school is not enough to accomodate all freshers, CSSPS has no option, but to admit more day students than boarders. Here, the candidate who had the best grade and also chose to be a border may miss his or her first choice.

ABOUT 2023 CSSPS

According to the Ghana Education Service, preparations for the 2023 Computerised School placement has begun

How to Check 2023 BECE Results

Step 1: Log onto the WAEC result portal for BECE candidates at eresults.waecgh.org

Step 2: On the port, the first detail you enter is your INDEX NUMBER

Step 3: Enter your INDEX NUMBER again in the second space to confirm it as accurate.

Step 4: Select your exam type, which should be BECE (School) if you were registered for the exam by a private or public school or Select BECE (Private) if you were not registered for the exam by a school.
