We Rejected Bribery Attempts over ‘Ofori-Atta Must Go’ Demand – Dirty Secret Finally Drops

Ofori-Atta Must Go
The Ofori-Atta Must Go demand was halted after parliament decided to keep him.
Andy Appiah-Kubi, Member of Parliament for Asante Akim Central Constituency in the Ashanti Region for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has denied accusations that he and other MPs were paid to drop demands for Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta to be fired by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Earlier this week, Appiah-Kubi led a group of over 80 MPs in seeking the immediate dismissal of Ofori-Atta and Charles Adu Boahen, Minister of State in the Finance Ministry.
The MPs cited the suffering economy as the reason for their request, threatening to boycott government activity in the House if their request is not met.
Following a meeting at the Presidency on Tuesday, it was revealed that an agreement had been reached between the Majority Caucus and the President to have Ofori-Atta complete the most recent round of talks with the International Monetary Fund, as well as present and oversee the appropriation of the 2023 budget before ‘leaving.’
Members of the public have slammed the MPs for allowing themselves to be monetarily influenced to back down on their request.
This, according to Appiah Kubi, is wrong.
In an interview with Joy News in Accra, he said, “I want one individual, anyone affiliated with any such person who believes he can donate money… If I hear someone making an accusation, I will respond with information.
“I will notify you that we are beyond bribery; our objective is not financial gain; we don’t have money in our wallets, but at least we have a conscience.” “We will not be reduced to that circumstance,” he stressed.

He claimed that they had previously been contacted with monetary incentives, but had turned them down.
“Anyone who wants to try should be cautioned. We relayed this message to certain folks, and they sat up straight. We’ve sent a strong enough message to anyone who seeks to use materialism to influence members of our coalition: it won’t work.”
In a second interview, the MP said that he anticipated Ofori-Atta to be dismissed as Minister by December 31, 2022, at which point, all things being equal, the budget appropriation will have been finished.
