7,000 Newly Recruited Teachers To Be Posted July 1st – MoE
The Ministry of Education is set to commence the highly anticipated July 1st teacher posting across the country. Approximately 7,000 newly recruited educators are expected to be deployed to various schools nationwide to help bridge the tracking teacher deficit in basic and senior high schools. This was revealed by the Minister of Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, in parliament.
The 7,000 newly recruited teachers to be posted on July 1st will be posted to regions and districts where their services are needed the most.
The announcement, which brings relief to thousands of awaiting newly trained teachers, was a major subject of deliberation during a recent parliamentary session.
While the July 1st teacher posting date is firmly locked in, leadership in Parliament indicated that efforts are still underway to expand the slot to accommodate even more graduates in the near future.
“First of July, a new batch of recruited teachers will start work across Ghana, and some 7,000 teachers will be recruited,” Hon. Haruna Iddrisu stated on the floor of Parliament. “I’m still engaging with the Honorable Minister for Finance to increase the numbers for recruitment of teachers, but you know it must be on budget. So maybe when he comes for his mid-year review, he would look at it.”
At the time of filing this report, the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service were yet to release appointment letters and have also not provided any tentative date for the release of appointment letters.

Inclusivity: Blind Teachers to be Captured in Recruitment
As the Ghana Education Service (GES) prepares for the July 1st teacher posting, strong advocacy has been made to ensure the deployment process is entirely inclusive and does not leave out persons with disabilities.
Hon. Haruna Iddrisu reminded the house of the critical need to prioritize special education graduates and visually impaired teachers who are equally qualified to serve.
“Mr. Speaker, my attention was drawn during the May Day celebration when one of the workers was dancing with a placard that ‘blind teachers are also teachers’, to remind me that when you are doing recruitment, take care of blind teachers,” he urged.
Focus on Ga, Ewe, and Local Language Teacher Shortages
A major directive going into the July 1st teacher posting exercise is the strategic deployment of local language teachers. Traditional authorities, including the Ga Mantse, have raised concerns over the severe shortage of indigenous language teachers—such as Ga and Ewe—in regions like Greater Accra and Savannah.

Lawmakers emphasized that posting dedicated local language instructors is vital to improving foundational literacy and overall student performance.
“We should be having dedicated teachers because it is our firm belief and faith that when children learn with the local language as first language of instruction, in addition to English, learning outcomes improve,” Hon. Haruna Iddrisu concluded.
With July 1st slated for teachers to be posted, the Ministry of Education, all stakeholders, and candidates are advised to keep their documentation ready as the portal prepares for final clearance and postings.
