University of Ghana Student Dies in Cape Coast

News coming in indicates that a 19-year-old level 200 Law student at the University of Ghana, Legon, has been reported dead at Ewim Polyclinic, Cape Coast Metropolis.

According to report, the late Nana Obeng Owusu Junior, who died around 19:00 on Monday, died instantly after being injected with an unknown drug by a nurse named Michael.

The media visited the hospital to verify the claim but the head of care and the senior manager of the mission were unable to confirm or deny the allegations at around 3.30pm on Saturday.

However, the deceased’s mother, Nelly Mills said she took the deceased, who suffered from asthma, to a treatment center. She added that when they arrived at the scene, they went to the pharmacy but were taken to the emergency room and had to do this.

There was a misunderstanding between the deceased and Michael in the emergency room. Michael was upset by their visit and shouted “what do you want, what do you want” at them as if he had not been given the right to visit the centre.

“Michael sounded unhappy, like he was tired of taking care of patients, and he was yelling at us, which my son didn’t like at all,” she said.

The mother then told Michael that she is going to the emergency room to get prescription medication. She left the deceased in the care of his younger siblings who were with them.

Ms. Mills said that after she left, Michael gave the deceased an injection without checking his vital signs, which caused the deceased to die in less than two minutes, and left the scene.

Mrs Mills is currently appealing to the Ghana Health Service and the security agencies to help her investigate the matter so that justice will be served
