visited Bawumia? you’re hypocrites – Joseph Yammin Criticizes pastors

Joseph Yammin is in the News as He criticizes pastors who visited Bawumia for winning the party elections against Kenpong and the other contenders.

In a surprising turn of events, former Ashanti Regional Deputy Minister Joseph Yamin has criticized pastors who visited NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahmoud Bawumia after his election, labeling them as hypocrites with partisan motives. Yamin, also a theologian with a background in theology, contends that these pastors are essentially politicians donning clerical attire to deceive the public.

Following the NPP flagbearer-ship race, Dr. Bawumia shared on Facebook images of clergymen from the Ashanti Region and the Anglican Diocese of Accra who visited him to convey congratulations. Yamin, in an exclusive interview with Ultimate FM in the Ashanti region, expressed his disbelief at the gesture, asserting that Dr. Bawumia is a partisan leader and not a national symbol deserving such congratulations from clergymen.

Yamin questioned the motives behind the clergymen’s actions, stating, “What do they seek to achieve if not for their own interest, if not for the simple fact that they are members of the political party we call the NPP, why will they be interested in another faith rather than the faith they believe in.”

He further criticized the clergymen for not extending similar congratulations to former President John Dramani Mahama, a Christian, when he was the NDC flagbearer. Yamin labeled the clergymen’s actions as hypocritical and accused them of turning a blind eye to Bawumia’s alleged lies during his tenure as vice president.

Yamin suggested that if Islamic clerics had visited Bawumia, it would have been more acceptable as a gesture from the Islamic community to one of their own. However, he found the Christian community’s involvement in congratulating a Muslim leader to be hypocritical and questioned their selective approach.

The comments by Joseph Yamin highlight the intersection of religion and politics, bringing attention to the perceived alignment of clergymen with partisan interests and the potential consequences of such actions in a diverse and religiously pluralistic society.
